Best Tire Inflator for your CarOver the past few weeks I’ve noticed that one of my front tires keeps slowly losing air.

I’m just about to switch to my winter tires so I’m not too worried about the condition of my summer tires for now but it was getting pretty annoying having to visit the gas station and spend a dollar every few days just to refill the tire that was getting low.

Rather than continuing to spend so much time looking for a gas station that had a pump for air I decided to head online and search for the best tire inflator to use at home on my own.

Right away I noticed that there were a wide range of different options to choose from and I decided to write a post on some of my recommendations when it comes to the different tire inflators that I find suitable for regular home use.

While I never had one before I now believe that it’s a good >tire pressure gauge it’s possible to have the tires working at an ideal level throughout the year.

I’m starting to do more and more basic maintenance on a much more regular basis than I have been over the past few years and an inflator is a great tool to add to the garage when it comes to basic automotive care.

Now I want to share with you some of my recommendations when it comes to what I believe are great choices to consider for the best car tire inflator.

The Best Tire Inflator for your Vehicle 2019

Slime 40022 12-Volt Digital Tire Inflator
  • Easy read digital display
  • Bright light for night use
  • Powerful and compact
  • 12 inch Total reach
  • CFM:565, LPM:16

The Slime 40022 12-Volt Digital Tire Inflator was one of the first options that I stumbled across and I found it to be a very suitable choice for keeping my tires inflated at home and also for leaving in the trunk just in case of emergencies.

To get this thing powered up and ready to go it needs to be plugged into the 12-volt outlet, or cigarette lighter, and I would recommend leaving the car running rather than turned into the battery-on position while you’re using it.

What I love about this device and why I would argue it’s one of the best portable tire inflator options available is because of how easy it is to use.

When I head to the gas station I always have to fiddle with the nozzle and the valve stem trying to find the right fit but with this little tire inflator there is a connector that screws directly onto the valve stem which ensures a suitable fit for getting air into the tire.

After the inflator is attached to the tire it just needs to be plugged into the cigarette outlet and turned on for the air to start flowing into the tire and filling it up.

Rather than having to sit there and watch the PSI levels you can actually set a target pressure for your tire and the inflator will actually turn off automatically once the set tire pressure has been reached.

I find this to be such an incredible feature and it actually makes filling the tires up with air quite straightforward and very easy.

The Slime 40022 12-Volt Digital Tire Inflator is able to fill up standard car tires up to a maximum PSI of 35 so if you have bigger tires that need more pressure I would recommend checking out a heavier-duty option.

On the front is a display screen along with large buttons and there’s even a light in case you need to use it in the dark or low lighting conditions.

As for stability there are rubberized feet on the bottom of the inflator that help to keep it in place while it’s pumping air into the tire and it also comes with a 12 foot total reach so that it can be plugged in and used at the tires.

This is an inflator I would definitely recommend checking out if you’re looking to keep your car tires at the optimal pressure at home or if you want to keep it in your car to use just in case of any emergencies or low pressure warnings.

The Viair 00073 70P Heavy Duty Portable Compressor is a heavy duty and portable tire inflator that works up to a maximum working pressure of 100 PSI and plugs into the cigarette lighter power outlet in the car.

For this inflator you’re going to want to leave the car running while you are inflating any of the tires and thanks to the 16 foot power cord it can remain plugged in while you maneuver it around the car depending on which tire needs inflating.

The air hose is 4 feet in length so you can set this little device down beside the tire and you still have a suitable amount of air hose length to work with and there’s even a gauge on the top that can measure tire pressure up to 150 PSI.

Not only does it take on a small, portable, and streamlined design but it’s equipped with a carrying handle to make carrying it around the car a little easier as well as a carrying bag so that it can be kept in the bag and stored in the trunk or in the garage when it’s not needed.

I love having the carrying bag because it means I can leave it in the trunk without having to worry about any dust or debris getting onto or into the inflator and it’s a suitable choice for tires that need more than just 30 or 35 PSI of air.

  • Engine must be running when in use.

The Viair 85P Portable Air Compressor is another nifty little portable tire inflator and I would definitely recommend checking it out if you just need something with a maximum working pressure of 60 PSI.

This little guy also plugs into the cigarette lighter power outlet in the car and also comes equipped with a built-in LED light that helps to fill the tire in the dark or low-light conditions.

On the top of the compressor is a tire pressure gauge that will let you know the pressure of the tire you’re inflating so you can fill it to an ideal amount and it can be used for inflating tires up to 31 inches in size.

After plugging it in you want to turn on the car engine and once you hook it up to the tire valve stem you can just turn it on while monitoring the pressure gauge as your tire fills up.

One feature that I really like is that the tire chuck (the piece that you put onto the valve stem) actually screws on and offers a great connection for the inflator to pump air into the tire unlike at the gas station where you have to physically hold onto the connection so that it can work properly.

I find that the Viair 85P Portable Air Compressor is a great little inflator that I would recommend checking out if you’re looking for one that’s portable and suitable to use for your car.

The LifeLine AAA 300 PSI 12 Volt DC Air Compressor Is a portable tire inflator that boasts a no-frills and simple-to-use design.

To power it on it needs to be plugged into the cigarette lighter power outlet in your vehicle and right on the front is a easy to read pressure gauge that you can use to know when stop inflating once your tire has reached your desired pressure.

On the air hose is a little connector piece that will lock of the connector on to the tire valve and for turning it on and off there is a small round button right on the front below the pressure gauge.

It comes with 3 different nozzle adapters depending on the valve stem that you’re trying to hook it up to and it’s possible to use it to inflate a standard size tire from 0 PSI up to 35 PSI in just 8 minutes.

The pressure gauge on the front displays PSI up to 300 and although it doesn’t come with a dedicated carrying case it can be left in the box and kept stored in the trunk or the garage until it’s needed.

After plugging it in you can run it through the window or leave the door open while you’re using it around the car and I would recommend leaving the engine running while you have the inflator running.

This is quite a small and portable little inflator and it’s one I would recommend checking out if you’re looking to keep one in the trunk of your car just in case you get a flat tire or run into any other tire emergencies.

The Black & Decker ASI300 Inflator is a compact and portable little inflator that’s suitable for anyone looking for an inflation power of up to 160 PSI.

It weighs just around 6 pounds so it can be left in the trunk or in the garage and quickly grabbed whenever any car tires need to be inflated and to power it up it just needs to be plugged into the cigarette lighter power outlet in the car.

The pressure gauge is actually illuminated so you can check out what the correct pressure is of the tires even in the dark or in low lighting conditions and it even comes equipped with an automatic shut-off feature that turns the unit off once the pressure you want has been reached.

Setting the desired pressure is straightforward and is done by a dial with a little red arrow that you can control on the outside of the pressure gauge – just set the red arrow to the pressure you want and the inflator will turn off once that specific pressure is achieved.
