Best Car Chargers For iPhone and Android Phones 2019

I love making sure that all my devices are charged and I really hate when I’m out driving around or on a road trip and my smartphone does, tablet runs out of juice, or the battery on my GPS gives out.

One of my main rides is a 2002 Volvo S60 and as you might imagine it doesn’t come with any USB ports or fancy charging setups that I can use to keep my devices charged.

Since all I have is the old power outlet to use, the cigarette lighter outlet if you will, I’m always on the lookout for the best USB car charger so that I don’t ever have to worry about anything running out of juice while I’m out driving around.

In this post today I want to talk about some of the different options that I’d recommend checking out if you’re looking for a USB charger to use in your car.

All of these are designed to plug into the 12v power outlet in your car (cigarette lighter) and will come equipped with at least 2 ports for suitable usability.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at my recommendations!

Best Car Chargers For iPhone and Android Phones Buyer’s Guide

Chargers at home are excellent because, hook your iPhone up to it, and you can get a fast charge from dead to full after just a little bit on the wire. However, chargers in the car are notoriously worse, giving you only a couple of percent every hour, if that. Not only that, but car chargers are notorious for blowing a fuse or even shorting out.

Type

While all of the products that we reviewed are ostensibly car battery chargers, some of them may actually be a bit more specialized in its function and, though it can certainly charge a car battery, is actually intended to be used for other tasks. Quite often, this has more to do with how the car battery charger interacts with the battery when it is at different levels of being charged. The important thing to remember is that not all types of battery chargers are intended to charge a battery that is completely drained. Similarly, some battery chargers are meant to be used on older batteries that might otherwise be on their last leg

Maintainer

This is the “middle ground” when it comes to the different types of battery chargers. It will not recharge a completely drained battery like a standard battery charger will, nor will it focus on heavily at restoring the batteries cells to their former state. Instead, this type of battery charger is meant to keep a battery that still has some juice left in it from completely working out as well a providing some cell maintenance although it does. Keep in mind, this type of battery charger cannot usually handle some of the more extreme types of battery issues. On top of that, individual models are often limited in the kind of batteries they can charge.

Charger

This is the standard type of battery charger and the one that most people should look for unless you have a reasonably particular circumstance. This type of charger comes in the most various permutations, including the most different types of batteries, the most voltages, and the most amperages. Ultimately, if you have any car battery, then there is a standard charger out there that can handle it. One of the great things about a standard car battery charger is that they are designed to be able to charge a battery that has been completely changed. On top of that, standard car battery chargers are often less costly than a few of their counterparts, and they’re also designed for a more extensive selection of vehicles than a few of the other styles of car electric battery chargers.

Restorer

This is the least common kind of electric battery charger and, in reality, the charging function is merely a necessity of the product’s actual function. Permanently, a restorer can break down the many contaminant build ups in the battery’s cells to once again regularly hold a power charge. Usually, this is achieved through various manipulations of the charging energy, which in turn either realigns the cell’s constituents or reduces the byproducts. That is generally the priciest kind of car electric battery charger and is only necessary if you have a vast amount of vehicles and electric batteries that will regularly have to be restored and billed. If you don’t own a fleet of cars or have other uses for that lots of electric batteries, then this is not a worthwhile purchase.

Spoiler title

The different voltages that a car battery charger can put out will have a significant impact on whether or not it is appropriate to use with your vehicle. For instance, car battery chargers are used to charge the batteries for more than just cars. Trucks and even marine crafts all use car battery chargers-though many of them may use a battery that is not the standard 12V that a vehicle will generally apply.

Thankfully, there are plenty of car battery chargers on the market that provide a wide range of different battery voltages that it can distribute. There are plenty of battery chargers can charge voltages only 6V so that as high as 48V. Which means that car electric battery chargers can conceivable service vehicles which range from as large as commercial vehicles to smaller cars like go-karts or other smaller vehicles.

Spoiler title

Much as with voltages, there are an array of amperages that different batteries required. Similar to the wide selection of voltages a car electric battery charger can offer, so too do many car electric battery chargers have the choice of distributing the electricity with different amperages. Sometimes the automobile battery charger can differentiate this alone, whereas other times you may want to learn what amperage the battery requires and set the car battery charger to that amperage.

It is well worth noting that the different amperages will also impact how quickly the car battery pack charger will charge the electric battery. You must be careful because there are many electric batteries out there with a maximum amperage ranking of which point it could be dangerous to charge the electric battery beyond. In this situation, you can risk damaging the electric battery or the charger, which is never unusual that the automobile battery pack charger even starts to smoke cigarettes when pushing too much of amperages.

Spoiler title

This is an attribute that can significantly enhance the car battery charger performance, but it isn’t, strictly speaking, necessary. Mostly, an automobile battery pack charger with different charge stages can first browse the electric indicators from the battery and decode that information to determine what kind of state the battery is in. The car electric battery charger will then change its charge, establishing to accommodate the state of the battery best so that it responds to any potential issues.

The most common type of phase beyond directly charging that comes with car battery chargers that have multiple charging phases is the maintenance phase which, despite its name, does not always actually provides the battery with any restorative benefits. Instead, a maintenance charging stage identifies what the idle amperage of the battery is the amount of energy the cell inherently releases when plugged up but not powering-and retains providing that amount to top it off without ever overcharging it.

Spoiler title

Back in the day, if you wanted to charge a battery, there was a pretty good chance that the battery charger was almost as large as the electric battery itself. This managed to get pretty challenging to keep an electric battery charger readily available with you. Fortunately, with today’s development of technology, car electric battery chargers have been miniaturized to the idea they can often easily fit into the hand of your hands. However, this small size presents more benefits than simple convenience.

For example, many situations where you may want to charge an automobile battery do not involve vehicles. You’ll find so many circumstances in which a car electric battery may power an unrelated consumer electronics array. In this example, you might keep a maintenance car electric battery charger linked to it in any way time. Using a smaller car electric battery charger, this is a lot easier to do and makes moving the array easier as well.

Spoiler title

Unlike the batteries that they charge, car battery chargers are not always the most safeguarded against intrusion by the outside elements. Considering the bulk of a car battery charger is simply wires and a circuit table as well as the power transformer which changes the AC input electricity into DC output electricity for the battery. As such, if a car electric battery charger is not adequately safeguarded, it can become damaged and fail when exposed to the elements.

In this instance, your two most significant concerns are water and dust. Keep in mind, heat can also be a problem, but it is easily rectified by simply putting the car electric battery charger in a shaded area. For water and dirt, there’s an IP ranking system which determines how resistant to these impurities the car battery pack charger is. This quality is a lot more critical for an automobile battery pack charger that will be used to charge an electric battery used for a non-vehicle selection of electronics.

Well, now that you’re aware of the basics, benefits and every other feature of these car chargers, make your pick right away to keep your smartphones and devices charged up all way round. Most of these chargers come with some of the best features and they always make sure that your devices are perfectly charged within the shortest possible span of time.

So why wait when you can enjoy the very best? Browse through the features and go for the most affordable and feature-rich product from our list. Each of the items has been personally checked by me. So you can be completely assured about the efficiency. With their great features and compact design, these usb car chargers will definitely live up to your expectations.
